Community Policing / Community Involvement Brian’s presentation consist of a combination of story telling, poetry reading and photo-displays. The content is focused on racism, diversity and social issues observed from a police officer’s standpoint. As a police officer in Flint, MI., a city currently under receivership of the state of Michigan and also rated nation’s sixth most dangerous city, he comes face to face with the issues of politics, racism, housing, drugs, unemployment, public education, metal illness, domestic violence and others. Brian interacts with various social service agencies and court systems to address these social problems. The need for better cultural awareness in American society persist. Brian’s goal is to use his experience, skills and talents in a presentation to help students and teachers at all levels gain a greater understanding of cultural issues; particularly those facing black Americans.
